Volunteer Requirements

VOICA Volunteers are laypeople, either single or married, in good physical and mental health. The Volunteers have a strong desire to grow spiritually and to live a life of prayer and community while serving the poor in solidarity.

VOICA Volunteers must be

* At least 21 years of age at the time of application

* In good physical and mental health

* Adaptable and flexible

* Responsible and mature

* Willing to learn to live simply and to live and work with others from various cultures

* Open to learning a new language and adopting a new way of life

* Willing and able to minister to all, especially the poor, with humility and respect

* Optimistic and creative when confronting challenges and obstacles

 

Above all, VOICA volunteers must be

 

* Willing to live the four pillars of VOICA: Spirituality, Community, Formation, and Service

* Committed to the Catholic Church and her teachings

* A positive witness of Christ
