In order to improve your chances of placement, Please submit short-term mission Applications by the end of the year preceding the summer project in which you would like to serve.
Short-term volunteers spend 4-6 weeks during the summer helping at a Canossian mission. The type of work varies by location, but includes assisting with youth groups and children's camps, painting and repairing buildings, and providing pastoral care for the poor.
The short-term projects for Summer 2010 will take place from the end of July until the end of August (about 25 days), and will include the following:
Praia Grande (San Paolo) & Piabetà (Rio de
Janeiro), BRAZIL
Nsanama, MALAWI Restructuring of bathrooms for the existing kindergarten.
Aru, CONGO Democratic Republic Painting the boarding premises of the secondary school and building a classroom for a new Primary School.
Lomè, TOGO (West Africa) Service at St.Bakhita Medical Centre and working on the new Agricultural Project.
Short-term volunteers are sent in small groups to the mission sites. Prior to departing for the missions, they must participate in formation sessions provided by the Canossian Sisters.
Many of the short-term volunteers choose a project for which they do fundraising before they go to the mission.
